About Me

I am passionate about tutoring because of the joy it brings to witness a student’s ‘aha’ moment, that spark when a concept clicks. Helping others grasp difficult concepts and witnessing their growth is incredibly rewarding. My teaching style prioritizes personalized approaches and interactive methods to make learning engaging and enjoyable.

I value diversity and learning from different cultures, which is why I’ve dedicated time to understanding and appreciating various traditions and languages. Exploring new cuisines and experimenting with cooking is another passion of mine, as it connects me with different cultures on a sensory level.
In essence, I’m someone who finds delight in learning, sharing knowledge, exploring nature’s wonders, creating music, and savoring diverse experiences. My goal as a tutor is not only to impart knowledge but also to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for learning in my students.

Tutoring Experience

As an English teacher at the church from Jan 2017 to Feb 2018, I facilitated immersive English learning for Korean children. Collaborating on lesson preparation, I provided personalized and group support, especially for students with special needs. During an event, I conducted interactive storytelling of 'The Little Prince,' encouraging critical thinking and vocabulary expansion. A vocabulary game with image flashcards enhanced engagement and vocabulary. The highlight was an art project where kids created their own English flashcards, promoting writing practice and creativity, evoking joy and enthusiasm. Overall, my approach is aimed at fostering language development through diverse and engaging activities, nurturing active participation and linguistic growth.

Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience

Volunteering with the Society of the 3rd Infantry Division for the Korean War Armistice Day events in Alexandria, VA was impactful. I delivered a moving speech at the Prisoner of War & Missing in Action ceremony, emphasizing the sacrifices made for freedom. Interviewing veterans and supporting Outpost International's commemoration enriched my involvement. Reflecting on this, I acknowledged the need for deeper understanding of the Korean War's significance as a Korean American. Witnessing emotional renditions of national anthems by veterans' families stirred gratitude. This experience motivated me to engage actively with history, fostering a stronger connection to my cultural heritage. I'm committed to continuous learning about Korea and America's history, aiming to contribute more to honoring veterans and historical events, shaping my involvement in community connections and promoting historical understanding.
