Matthew I
About Me
Interests: Primarily writing, drawing, and acting. I also enjoy modeling with a CAD program and 3D-printing. I enjoy tutoring because I believe that just because a student does not understand a concept does not mean they are incapable of it. Often, it boils down to having to teach that subject to them in a different manner, which is where tutors come in, and the chance to assist students in both learning and confidence is a great one. Also, tutoring others reinforces my own understanding of the concepts, which helps me out later.

Graduate of the Space and Engineering Academy with Honors. Served as Vice President for my high school's Video Production Club, and voted for the 'Best Supporting Actor' award by my peers in theater. Current college GPA: 3.4. Dean's Honor List - Spring 2020, Fall 2020, Spring 2021.
Tutoring Experience
Worked as a private in-home tutor for most of my high school days. Tutored primarily across a broad range of math, ranging from Pre-Algebra to Calculus, to students in both middle and high school. Also tutored in physics and edited essays when requested. Experience with peer-reviewing and editing others' essays and stories from writing workshops. Taught some of my peers to use Solidworks, a CAD program. Worked as a Learning Assistant underneath Doctor Buswell at UCI.
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
Volunteered for several years for a local Animal Rescue organization. Volunteered twice as a cabin leader for middle school science camp, watching over 8 and 16 boys respectively for the week. Designed and constructed compression boxes for a local middle school. Am a member of an anonymous group of individuals dedicated to distributing stickers and key chains for free to the students of UCI.
Maria Hitchens –
Matthew came to our house last minute to help my son prepare for a geometry quiz. We were very grateful and pleased to see how patiently he taught my son concepts. He is friendly and approachable. He is patient and explains math in a manner that is easy to understand. We will be using Matthew again.
