My Private Professor connects students & families with vetted independent contractor tutors through a concierge-supported marketplace. We are currently seeking reliable, compassionate educators & subject-matter experts to be considered for marketplace opportunities supporting K–12 students & adult learners.

As part of the MPP marketplace, your work contributes to something larger. A portion of marketplace activity helps support My Private Professor Foundation, expanding access to free tutoring for students experiencing homelessness & housing instability.

Tutors on the MPP marketplace earn $18 per hour of tutoring.

Marketplace Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing individualized, 1-on-1 tutoring aligned with your areas of expertise

  • Delivering engaging & effective online sessions

  • Managing your availability & maintaining a reliable tutoring schedule

  • Adapting your approach to meet diverse learning needs

  • Building strong relationships with students through trust & consistency

Tutor Requirements:

We’re looking for tutors who bring both academic strength & a student-centered approach:

1. Subject Expertise: Demonstrated mastery in the subjects you wish to tutor. For AP subjects, a score of 5 on the exam is required.

2. Technology Access: Reliable computer & stable internet connection for virtual sessions

3. Scheduling Reliability: Ability to maintain the availability you set & communicate changes in advance

4. Teaching Approach: Patience, professionalism, & a genuine commitment to helping students grow

5. Adaptability: Ability to tailor instruction to individual learning styles

6. Resourcefulness: Willingness to use external tools & materials to enhance sessions

7. Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills in a virtual environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior tutoring experience is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual fluency is a plus
