Hi, my name is Josie. I’m currently an undergrad at Stanford University studying Comparative Literature with a Creative Writing minor. Currently I have a 3.99 GPA, so close! And I’ve taken classes in all sorts of disciplines, including Computer Science, Sociology, Human Biology, Theater and Performing Arts Studies, and Classics. I’ve been lucky enough to tutor in a wide range of capacities, from working with students of all ages at the Boys and Girls Club in East Palo Alto, to tutoring students working on their undergraduate degrees through an online program for refugees and immigrants in Cape Town, to women ages 20-60 recovering from drug and alcohol addiction who were working through a Stanford program to get college credit. I love crafting lessons to help people meet topics in ways that will engage them personally, and I also love sitting down with a challenging assignment, trying to work through problems. I’ve also done some college mentoring as well with disadvantaged students.
I really love learning, I know it can be frustrating at times, but I think there’s always something exciting to be found in it, and I love sharing that. Books and writing have always been my favorite thing in the world. But outside of school I love dancing. I joined Stanford’s bachata team and we performed in Reno. I’ve also been spending a lot of time cooking and baking since being home with quarantine.
