More About Me
|I love studying education and am currently in school to become a teacher! My favorite part about teaching is watching students become comfortable, and even excited by material that once intimidated them. I believe education opens many doors for students and I want to help each kid optimize their opportunities. Besides tutoring, I love to run, read sci-fi books, and do pottery. I am currently trying to perfect my chocolate chip cookie recipe!|

Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
I had an internship at the Warehouse Workers Resource Center in Ontario CA this past year. Here I worked on creating a holistic curriculum for warehouse workers and their families to understand their rights and building strong relationships in work, families and communities. I also conducted an intensive qualitative research project through interviews and coded research data, on how precarious work affects worker’s physical and mental health and how they resist these conditions. I have also volunteered at two tutoring centers this past year, Tutors for a Cause and Bright Prospects. Here I tutored children from 1st-12th grade in math, reading, writing and the sciences and helped low income teenagers with their college essays and navigating the college application process. Lastly, I volunteered for Census IE (Inland Empire) as a Canvasser. I helped develop the app CensusIE used to track the information canvassers collected from the neighborhoods. I also went door to door canvassing to encourage people to participate in the census. There I attended and helped facilitate multiple training events to learn about the importance of the census and how to combat the fear communities have of the census.
