More About Me
As a clinical psychology major, I am pursuing my interest in mental health and abnormal psychology! To me, mindfulness, gratitude, and meditation are very important for well-being and success.
With my theater minor, I’m strengthening my love for the performing arts. The majority of my success as a student has come from self-expression that I find through theater. I love to sing & write music! Currently, I’m in an all female-acapella group at UCSD. Through the UCSD Educational Studies program, I’ve learned about the importance of the individual student over the majority. I believe current education has inequities that alienate students who don’t necessarily learn the same way as the rest of their peers. That’s why I prioritize getting to know my students! “Different” doesn’t mean “less.” Also, I’m passionate about the representation of students in academics. Students thrive when there’s an element of their personality and interests involved! This makes tough subjects relatable and students are more inclined to digest academic content. In my experience, it’s exciting to see students turn what they’re learning about into something of their own. I’ve had students write songs, poems, and art in honor of what they learned in school! It’s a very rewarding process. |

Tutoring Experience
I've worked at 2 high schools from San Diego County. I shadowed 3 teachers and tutored students grades 9th-12th. In my spare time, I've tutored my two younger brothers throughout their late elementary & middle school years. In college, I hold writing advice sessions under TA supervision. I help people write APA research papers and MLA history papers. Additionally, I teach acting and direct. I've acted & directed in several UCSD & community theater productions including musicals, plays, & acapella competitions over the past 5 years.
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
I acted in the show, "Rising" in 2019, which donated all ticket sales & auctions to the non-profit organization, License to Freedom, stationed in San Diego. This organization helps refugee and immigrant victims of domestic violence; Under my supervision as financial chair, the Treble Singers raised money via singing grams. All proceeds went towards the COVID-19 Community Response Fund under the San Diego Foundation; As a PAL volunteer, I tutor under privileged K-12 students from San Diego County twice a week online in response to the COVID-19 quarantine to help students adjust to online instruction.
