More About Me
|I’ve always had a love for books and English is my strongest subject. I would love to help children look beyond their assignments and find a love for reading. Aside from reading, I enjoy writing and playing video games. I am comfortable working with all ages and hope to eventually work as a teacher. Feel free to contact me with any further questions.|
Undergraduate University: University of California San Diego
Year of Graduation: 2020
Majors/Minors/Specialization: Literature in English
Year of Graduation:
I recently graduated UC San Diego cum laude with a GPA of 3.851. I was a member of the Thurgood Marshall honors program throughout my four years at school and most recently completed an honors thesis through the Literature Department. During my thesis project I learned to work with my advising professor so I am familiar with the challenges on the student end of remote one-on-one learning.
I am currently volunteering with Words Alive to write and edit curriculum content for their read aloud program and juvenile book club. They focus on promoting literacy in under-served communities of San Diego. My role ensures these children are receiving Social and Emotional Learning to help develop their skills in expressing themselves and empathizing with others. Additionally, as an older sibling I have helped my younger sister with schoolwork throughout her life, including her current college writing. I used to spend my breaks between classes on phone calls with her going through her papers and ensuring they are the best they can be.
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
I am currently volunteering with Words Alive to promote literacy in San Diego and I have previously done fundraising for Rady Children's Hospital. As you can see, working to help children has always been important to me.
