More About Me

My name is John Shelton, and I aspire to become an English teacher. I love anything that you would do in a typical English class (reading and dissecting books, writing assignments, or giving speeches) and would be excited to help you through whatever you need. I am currently a student at the University of Montana studying Secondary English Education and Business Finance, which is another subject of great interest to me. I’d love to work with you!

ACT Score of 31, 3.94 Cumulative College GPA over three semesters, Presidential Leadership Scholar at my University, Montana University Systems Honors Scholarship Recipient, 2019 Impromptu Speaking State Champion, and student support experience as a volunteer with the Writing Coaches of Montana.

Tutoring Experience

Most recently I have been able to volunteer with a local organization that meets with high school students and helps them work through writing assignments. I only started with this organization last December but I've already enjoyed my short time with them. I've also had the opportunity to coach elementary school students in track and field while I was in high school.

Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience

As previously stated my work with the Writing Coaches of Montana is volunteer work where I can meet with students at their schools and help with their writing assignments. I've also joined the ambassadors program at my university's Davidson Honors College where I provide outreach services to prospective students and speak to the services of the Honors College. Aside from that I have had the opportunity to lead a winter clothing drive for my city's homeless for one of my college classes. In high school I was able to volunteer to coach young kids in track and field as part of my community's Highlander Track and Field Program. I've also been involved with my high school's "Ignite" Mentorship program where I volunteered time to help incoming freshmen adapt to high school.
