CAL TEACH: Learned active learning teaching skills through UCLA lab school and applied them to an elementary school science class in Westwood, then at the end of the quarter I taught my own interactive science lesson. Brighter Minds Tutoring: Private tutoring to students in elementary and high school in topics such as biology and mathematics. Ivy Garden After-School: Tutored 4th and 5th graders at an after-school program in Chicago. I helped them with homework, made quizzes for them, and encouraged them to read. Interaxon at UCLA: Neuroscience education club that goes to various schools in LA area and teachers neuroscience topics to children ages kindergarten-high school. We also make brochures and posters to make the lessons fun and interactive. Latin School of Chicago: Taught private and group swim lessons to children ages 4-12. I was able to engage in lessons with children of all experiences and levels, thus requiring me to come up with unique lessons for each individual
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
ONETrack International: Student intern for NPO that offers alternative orphan-care solutions around the world. Develops campaigns through event planning, donor cultivation, solicitation strategizing. UNICEF at UCLA: Volunteer at Los Angeles Family Housing to provide arts and crafts activities to the families and their children living there who are transitioning out of homelessness. Interaxon at UCLA: Neuroscience education club that teachers neuroscience topics to children around the LA area Active Minds: Mental Health Advocacy Club at UCLA that provides various educational and hands-on workshops on topics surrounding mental health.
