About Me
My name is Felix Ortiz de Montellano. A San Francisco native, I am currently living in New York where I attend Columbia University. When I’m not doing schoolwork or exploring New York City, I practice Capoeira, an afro-brazilian martial art, and dance. My favorite part of tutoring is the process of exploring concepts in novel ways, to find the one that works best for the student. I think every student has the capacity to understand even the most challenging subject for them, if it’s presented in a way that is right for them personally, and trying to find that way is my goal in each session.

French Tutoring Over Zoom: - Created lesson plans by compiling and organizing documents, books, and learning aids. - Adapted the curriculum to the student’s needs and preferences to maximize learning and engagement over several months Capoeira Summer Camp Volunteer Counselor: - Supervised large groups of campers ages 5-12, executing lesson plans and teaching across different skill levels. - Collaborated with other counselors to design the campers’ final performance to showcase what they learned during the week. - Mediated interactions between the campers to maintain a productive environment.
