More About Me

What I love about tutoring is its focus on individualized, discussion-based learning rather than just lecture-based learning. Part of my main goal with tutoring is to not only help solidify the material that students are learning, but also to allow for deeper dives into specific topics of interest that the student may not have the opportunity to explore at their current schools.

I am a neuroscience major, but I am also very interested in music and art! I play piano individually and as part of a trio, and l love to collaborate with other musicians as an accompanist or in ensemble performances. I also play the cello in the Pomona College Orchestra and chamber music ensembles. Aside from music, I love to draw and paint, play cards, and watch movies with my friends!

Tutoring Experience

I have considerable experience tutoring in a variety of fields remotely. In high school, I tutored students in one-on-one zoom sessions in AP Chemistry, general high school chemistry, algebra, and precalculus through Leaders United for Change, a student-led non-profit that provides mentoring services to students across America. As a member of the organization, I developed individualized lesson plans and worked through problem sets with students. Part of my main goal was to not only help solidify the material that the student was struggling with, but also to allow for deeper dives into specific topics of interest that the student may not have had the opportunity to explore at their current schools. Additionally, I taught one-on-one elementary level math lessons to students to provide free education during the pandemic as part of the organization Bored of Boredom. I also currently teach weekly, one-on-one piano lessons over Zoom as a mentor for Music Mentors of Pomona Valley, a group of student musicians providing free music lessons to low income students in California. My experience as a teacher during the pandemic has allowed me to develop the specific flexibility, creativity, organizational, and communication skills necessary to relay educational assistance through an online format. My practice as a teacher in both STEM and non-STEM fields has also allowed me to remain adaptive and comfortable teaching multiple subjects in multiple styles.
