More About Me

As a tutor, from high school to college, I’ve focused on taking into account the different learning styles of my students and preparing accordingly. For instance, when I tutored Calculus at Dartmouth College, I developed unique ways of teaching each undergraduate so as to comprehend difficult Calculus concepts, as well as thrive under the pressure of an Ivy League quarter system. I also value listening, sharing and collaborating with my students to help build trust and a bond in which students are open to learning new strategies and approaches.

If I’m not studying, you can find me dancing, singing, solving a rubik’s cube, or spending time with my friends and family. I would love to have the opportunity to connect with you all and look forward to our first session!

What to Expect as Your Tutor:

Psychological and Brain Sciences

Academic Accolades:

Skills USA Competition Third Place Award in Medical Terminology; National Honor Society; Graduated Antelope Valley College with Magna Cum Laude honors; President of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Explorer Program Award; SAT score: 1320; Some fun facts about me: I was skipped up a grade, accepted to attend college at 12 years old; and, at 16, completed my AA degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences before my high school diploma.

Tutoring Experience

Throughout my academic career, I have gained a lot of experience with tutoring and mentoring students. For instance, I served as Peer mentor in high school, Calculus tutor at Dartmouth College, mentor to low-income and first-generation first-year students through the FYSEP program at Dartmouth, New Hampshire Academy of Science Lab mentor, and coordinator of many programs at Dartmouth. I also worked as a Reach the World traveler during my study abroad experience in Barcelona, Spain, and enjoyed teaching a class of U.S. high school students about the culture in Barcelona, Spanish, and about studying abroad [https://www.reachtheworld.org/deztinys-journey-spain]. I hope they all consider immersing themselves in a new culture as well.

Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience

I have worked with my Church's Outreach team since I was young. Together, we help supply homeless individuals in our community with meals, beverages, clothing, and hygienic supplies. Furthermore, every year, we prepare Thanksgiving baskets to distribute to those in need. In the future, I aspire to build a homeless shelter named Great Expectations. The problem with our current homeless shelter is that it closes early in the morning and does not offer additional services for the residents. Great Expectations will be open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. In this shelter, all residents will have daily access to meals, beverages, clothing, schooling, and both religious and emotional support. The employees will also encourage the residents to apply for jobs and seek government assistance. Great Expectations will be a stepping stone for many homeless individuals. It will get them back on their feet and out in the world to achieve greater things.
