More About Me
Teaching a student is like solving a puzzle. Every student is different and my favorite thing about tutoring is discovering each students unique learning style and designing curriculum to fit them. All kids are born with a passion to learn, but often times our educational system is not designed to foster that spark. I see my primary job as a teacher to reignite that spark and create a new way for students to approach their learning that is tailored to their personality, work ethic, and intelligence type. My upper division psychology coursework has primarily focused on child development and education and I try to apply these theories to my tutoring to create productive learning strategies that can last a lifetime. Educational Psychology Research emphasizes that transitions such as changing schools or moving are particular difficult times for learners. This transition to online learning makes it more important than ever to encourage compassionate and effective learning that does not negatively encroach on student mental health. In this newfound COVID downtime, I’ve been enjoying walking on the Santa Barbara beaches and creating new music as well as reading and cooking. |

Tutoring Experience
I taught gymnastics for four years to ages 3-15 where I learned the importance of patience and tailoring my teaching to individuals. At UCLA I’m a part of a musical organization called SLAM that teaches music to students who attend schools without music programs. I’ve worked with an organization called Corstone that creates educational programs across the globe to increase resilience in marginalized groups. I’ve worked as a college essay tutor reviewing essays for UC’s and other universities. I worked as an assistant guide with Environmental Traveling Companions on outdoor adventure trips to increase confidence and community in students with disabilities.
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
I work with SLAM at UCLA teaching music to students from schools without a music program. I volunteered with Environmental Traveling Companions as an assistant guide on their outdoor adventure trips teaching students independence and community to youth with disabilities. I have also interned with the Non Profit Corstone which aims to empower marginalized youth around the world to thrive despite significant adversity through the use of positive psychology.
