More About Me
Hello, my name is Brian and I am excited to be a part of your educational path!
My goal as a tutor is to facilitate a comfortable environment that allows you to take control of your own educational path allowing you to excel in your courses. Unlike most jobs, peer-tutoring provides room for engagement and developing interpersonal relationships tailored to the student’s needs. I understand the struggle of not being able to grasp a certain topic or a difficult lesson, and I believe that learning from someone who can empathize with your educational obstacles is essential for academic growth. My focus is not to engrain information, but guide you to find the answers on your own, so you can truly understand the concepts in a way you understand it. On my free time, I play badminton, watch Netflix, listen to a variety of music, and eat/boba. |

Academic Accolades:
I have received a 4.0 GPA at Mt. San Antonio College putting me on the President's List. I graduated with an Associate of Arts in Psychology with honors and was nominated for the Student of Distinction Scholarship in the Academic Category. Preceding matriculation to community college, I received a 5 on the AP Psychology, Calculus AB, & Calculus BC exam. I have presented at a research conference (HTCC) in Irvine where I discussed topics in Psychology, specifically perception. I am currently in the process of transferring to UCLA. I was in the top 1.5% of applicants giving me the distinction of UCLA Regents Scholar. I have received leadership positions in high school which include: Secretary & Lead Project Coordinator for National Honors Society (4 years), Publicist for American Red Cross (4 years), and Secretary for Distributive Education Clubs of America (3 years).
Tutoring Experience
I worked as a Student Assistant Writing Tutor at my community college's writing center. I have been working part-time for approximately 1.5 years and gained valuable peer-tutoring skills within the organization. I received a Tutor Level 1 Certificate associated with the completion of a 6 week course focused on peer-tutoring and facilitating a safe environment for students to learn. I also earned a Back of The Room Training Certificate that trains tutors to create outside-of-the-box learning projects for students to learn creatively.
Philanthropy / Volunteering Experience
I have volunteered at many organizations within the National Honors Society ranging from environmental efforts to food drives for the homeless. I have joined the environmental effort to educate myself and my community with Planet Rehab by caring for animals, learning about ways to improve our environment, and Veganism. On the other hand, I have volunteered with INSAN Foundation, which sponsors food drives in Pomona and community outreaches that support those suffering from homelessness. Furthermore, American Red Cross provides countless volunteering opportunities for me, which included community outreaches, acquiring donors for blood drives, and spreading our mission to help others in times of need.
